Stereolithography (STL or SLA) is another computer-supported process in the area of rapid prototyping (and rapid manufacturing).
It is suitable for the rapid production of prototypes, moulds, and industrial templates. In stereolithography, a light-curable plastic (photopolymer) is polymerised using a laser beam and thus transformed from a liquid into a solid state. The data from the CAD model is used to create the object layer by layer.
